Of Values and Networks: Designing Quantitative Analysis Methods for Pluralistic Telecommunication Markets
Abstract
FixedandmobileInternetecosystemshavedriftedawayfrom classical monolithic content and service value chains into a pluralism of highly competitive non-linear business interactions. The analysis tooling, however, has only partially participated in this transition, as it mainly concentrates on qualitative measures for assessing so called “value net- works”. Thus, the present article is dedicated to illustrating how quan- titative value network assessment techniques can be designed that allow tailored responses to current trends in the fixed and mobile network- ing industry. This will be demonstrated in a case study on video on de- mand services where side payments are compared with classical payment regimes.
