Abstract

This chapter describes how business process models have to comply with business level rules and policies (i.e., semantic constraints) stemming from real world applications. One very important goal is to ensure error-free executions at the semantic level, by equipping process management systems with control mechanisms for validating and ensuring the compliance with semantic constraints.
