Re: [nvrg-bof] poll on charter focus - RESPONSES DUE OCT 23

Dear Joe, all,

our team is interested in virtual networks,
but not in virtualization of systems.

We are currently involved in a project called
Manticore (some of you probably know it):
 http://www.i2cat.net/en/projecte/manticore-1

From this project, we can see some aspects that
in our opinion need an standardization:

   - There is a problem when different vendor devices
should be in the same virtual network: API or protocol
definition required, in a similar way that SMTP does, but
now considering the middleware.
   - There is a problem in the interoperatibility between
virtual networks: Routing, addressing, QoS parameters, etc.

We are very interested in participate actively, but we
don't see clearly how. We belong to this distribution list
since summer 2008, and we are progressing too slowly. How
can we (all) boost the target and the work plan ?

   Hope it can be useful.
     Best regards,

       Xavier and Felipe,

To be very explicit, I'd like to ask whether the folks on this list
who might participate in a research group feel that such an RG
should focus on a) the virtualization of networks or b)
virtualization of systems including networks and others things such
    as hosts, services, storage, sensors/actuators.

Hi, all,

Work on updating the charter proposal hasn't progressed since the last
meeting in Stockholm. Aaron and I exchanged some ideas a month ago, and
Aaron asked for people to voice their position above then. I haven't
heard any discussion.

In order for this group to move forward, we need to decide what our
focus is. So, to that end, I'll summarize the current views:

	a) virtualization of networks
		Joe

	b) virtualization of systems,
incl. networks, hosts, services, storage, sensors/actuators
		Aaron

Can everyone on this list please try to post a short not indicating your
view of where this group should focus ASAP, no later than Friday Oct 23.
That should help us gauge how to proceed.

Thanks,

Joe (just as a list member)
